Windows 10 Sales Being Halted By Microsoft

To boost sales of the lackluster Windows 11 OS, Microsoft is stopping Windows 10 sales, both home and pro on January 31st, 2023.

Customers have until January 31, 2023 to purchase Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro from the Microsoft site. However, Windows 10 may still be offered elsewhere from other retailers and OEMs, until Microsoft confirms otherwise.

In past years, Microsoft has issued a public notice about the ending of its Windows sales, but such a thing apparently didn’t happen with Windows 10. It’s mostly been various media outlets that have noticed the Windows 10 end-of-sales date.

Though Microsoft released the new Windows 11 2022 Update to consumers recently, there’s no obligation to upgrade. Microsoft will continue to support Windows 10 through October 2025, company executives said.

Meanwhile, Windows 11 launched to decent acclaim, with applause for the polish and boos for the weird upgrade restrictions. The minimum system requirements were relaxed soon after launch, but migration from Windows 10 has still been slow, according to recent reports.

Despite Microsoft’s decision to halt Windows 10 sales, the operating system will keep receiving security updates until October 14, 2025. So you can still use it for a few more years.

This Is Why Microsoft Wants To Stop Windows 10

Did you know that Windows 11 is tracking your data?

Ever since Windows 10 was launched in 2015, Microsoft has come under scrutiny for gathering and sharing user information without consent.

Although Microsoft has since taken steps to improve Windows 10’s privacy issues, these revisions have been widely criticized as not doing enough to protect user data.

Microsoft had the opportunity to address the privacy concerns that users continued to experience with the release of Windows 11. Unfortunately, it turns out that Windows 11 collects even more data than its predecessor.
